The Dorms
Who's my roommate?
Before we could get started
with any of our activities, we had to find out our room assignments.
Checking out the rooms and
getting settled- who gets the top bunk?
It may not be home, but
we could still get a good night's sleep!
MEALS
Once we were settled the
first day, we had a quick tour and a meeting with the instructors.
Then....Lunch!
Harris Hall- a place for
fine food!!
"The food was even better than my mom's."
"I liked being a biddie;
it was fun getting ready for the kids to come in."
S.L.O.P
What is S.L.O.P.? Stuff Left
On Plate. Any food that was left on the plates was put into the S.L.O.P.
bucket at the end of each meal. The bucket was weighed to determine
how much food was wasted. (Don't worry, the S.L.O.P. went to feed
Miss Honey's pigs!) Why do we worry about the wasted food? As one
student put it: "I learned that wasted food is wasted natural resources."
How much food do you
throw away after each meal?
What can you do to save
those natural resources?
SONGS
"I thought it was fun how after each meal a counselor had a song for everyone to sing together."
