The Echo Hill Outdoor School Alphabet Poem

Broad Street Elementary School, Mechanicsburg, PA

                    A   is for the Adventure class where we learned to work together,
                    B   is for our Biddie role, we'll remember it forever.
                    C   is for the Chesapeake, the bay we're affecting now,
                    D   is for the Dairy farm where we got to milk a cow.
                    E   is for the Estuary where salt and fresh water mix,
                    F   is Farm Ecology, in the fields we watched for ticks.
                    G  is for the Goat who gave our fingers a little bite,
                    H  is for the Hike when we walked the grounds at night.
                    I     is the Instructors who taught us to learn as we play,
                    J   is for Journals which we wrote in everyday.
                    K  is for the Kiss that we gave to a fish,
                    L  is for the Lessons about water that is brackish.
                    M is for Mysteries, we solved them left and right,
                    N  is for Nature which we explored both day and night.
                    O  is for Opinions, we shared them in the woods, fields and boats,
                    P   is for the Passports where we recorded all our notes.
                    Q is for the Questions we asked the “question man,”
                    R  is for Resources that we get from the land.
                    S  is for S.L.O.P, the Stuff Left On our Plates,
                    T  is for the Tribes where we learned to be teammates.
                    U  is for Understanding which we got from every lesson,
                    V  is for the Variety we had in each and every session.
                    W is the Watershed of which we are a part,
                    XYZ wraps it up, with memories in our hearts.
